I started writing children's stories about small animals, because I am a doctor by profession and at the same time an animal right’s defender. During the study of physiology in the university, I couldn’t bear to experiment on frogs, mice, rabbits and dogs. Then I became a teacher of ethics, and I continued to fight unreasonable experiments on animals. I decided to start writing stories for children about mice, to protect them by making mice adorable. I created other stories so that children would get to know rare and threatened creatures and fall in love with the infinitely diverse nature of our land, such as the tale of the open-hearted glass frog Diane and her ruby-spotted little companion dragonfly Drago, Heteriana Sanguinea, how they became an inseparable "two of a kind”. I have also written stories of Costa Rica and its inhabitants – a beauty contest between flowers and birds; star fall and an unusual eruption of volcanoes with flower petals.
